REMEMBER: CLUBBING AT THE SAVOY CIRCA 1940

An Click magazine article circa 1940 highlights the nightlife in Manhattan and has a color photo of the lobby of The Savoy ballroom on Lenox by 141st Street with dancers in full swing.  This was the home of the Lindy Hop and apparently was a fashionable tourist attraction for those looking for some adventure in the evening.  We have seen other interior photos of the famous dance space but this is probably the first one where a large, jazzy mural can be seen in the background.  Of course everything would eventually be torn down by the time the next decade finished up and public housing would eventually be built on the legendary site.  Photo courtesy of  OldMagazinearticles.com
