BESPOKE: ANTIQUE DOOR AT ISLAND BURGERS
Putting back antique doors within old storefronts seems to now be a trend uptown. We walked by the new Island Burgers under construction on Broadway by 124th Street and noticed that a brightly painted vintage door has now been installed. Peque tapas on 145th Street had a similar idea and we recently talked to a brownstone owner who is in a middle of renovations and buying reclaimed pieces to replace the cheaper doors selected by a previous owner. When it comes to dining, people do judge the book by its cover so having a facade with lots of character speaks about the establishment in so many ways to an average pedestrian. Check out our past post to see what this storefront used to look like at Island Burger last month: LINK
