REMEMBER: TROLLEY & THEATRE CIRCA 1929
Who can guess the location of the above Harlem streetscape taken circa 1929? Buildings towards the middle and the far left still exist today but the trolley and the old architecture at the far right are long gone.
ANSWER: The view is looking west on 125th Street from St. Nicholas Avenue. Originally built in 1902 as a Vaudeville theater, The West End would eventually show films by the end of the 20s and would eventually be purchased by a church decades later. Archival photo courtesy NYPL
