DWELL: MANHATTAN RESIDENCES AT $1.7 MILLION

A Times article in the past week has confirmed that that average Manhattan residence is now priced at a whopping $1.7 million.  When the recession hit back in 2008, the number had always been hovering around a million or so for the longest time but the past couple of years have seen some record breaking numbers in mostly new construction sales.  A lot of the action is really happening further downtown or midtown where condos are going for $10 million or more but map in the article shows that uptown is still quite moderate and most areas above 110th Street are roughly a third of the new 2015 estimate.  Harlem and the Heights are today affordable options even though prices have increased dramatically over the past decade but in comparison to the rest of the island, things still are pretty welcoming for the middle class.
