RENT: CENTRAL HARLEM LEADS IN RENT INCREASE
A Gothamist article maps out the rent increases in greater New York City since 2002 and Central Harlem leads with the most dramatic change with a 93 percent jump. West Harlem increased only by about 37 percent in the same time period while even just a bit further north, Washington Heights is also in the red with a 55 percent increase. East Harlem was relatively much lower with a number somewhere below 30 percent. As the post points out, the once affordable neighborhoods in the city are becoming less so but this of course mainly affects newer renters and not the rent stabilized units that hold a share of the market: LINK
