REMEMBER: THE MAIN BOULEVARD CIRCA 1934
Who can guess the vantage point of this photo taken circa 1934? At the time, this was Harlem's main boulevard but a couple of decades later, a large part of the block on the left would be razed for public housing. One major landmark still stands today and can be seen at the lower left.
ANSWER: This view of 125th Street looking north on 7th Avenue is intact today only at the front two buildings which includes the Alhambra ballroom. The church still stands also in the background but public housing has replace much of the residential blocks seen in the older photo. Archival image courtesy NYPL

It is 7th Avenue between 125th & 126th streets. The Alhambra on the left side of the picture is the clue.
