SEE: VINYL FILMING IN MANHATTANVILLE

It appears that fake vintage storefronts are popping up all over Manhattanville just north of 125th Street on Amsterdam in the past week in preparation for the filming of the HBO rock drama Vinyl which centers around the dynamic music scene in a gritty 1970s New York City.  The pilot is being directed by Martin Scorsese and the series will be 10 episodes all together featuring the birth of disco, rock and hip-hop.  We are not sure if the setting being filmed this week is actually supposed to be Harlem because the area could easily be any part of lower Manhattan when things were not so posh several decades ago.

  1. I believe the series has more of a downtown feel, but unsure and very excited about the series. It's going to be a hit. With that said, Harlem got a lot of attention w the Knick which appears to be returning to Cinemax in mid October. Cool Stuff
