SHOP: FOODTOWN WILL REPLACE PATHMARK 145TH
The most read story from last week was the auctioning of Pathmark on 145th Street because of a bankruptcy filing by the supermarket's parent company and we actually knew who the highest bidder had been all along. Now many sources have confirmed that Foodtown did indeed win the auction and will be taking over the large space at the corner of FDB in the near future. This cusp location of Central Harlem and Sugar Hill is quite important since it serves a large part of the community so it is indeed fortunate to see another market step in to take over the space. Read more about the story in our past post: LINK

What are Foodtowns like? Never been to one.
ReplyDeleteNice, the Food Town on 147th & St Nic just went through a renovation and it looks wonderful. Although I liked Path Mart, it's certainly a good idea for Food Town to move in.
ReplyDeleteBtw the ladies at Food Town on 147th are so sweet
Food Town (at least the one on St. Nicholas) is an interesting mix of young hip looking folks, old people on a fixed income, and long-time locals looking for staples. As a result they have an entire section devoted to Goya products, and yet maintain one of the most fantastic and eclectic beer selections in the entire area. They are definitely learning their customers!
ReplyDeleteI hope they Bring good vegeterain options! And quality seafood
