READ: NO 2ND AVENUE SUBWAY FOR EAST HARLEM?

The 2nd Avenue subway will finally become reality after a century of planning but will it connect East Harlem to the rest of Manhattan?  Everything is set to open in 2017 for the first phase which goes to the border of East Harlem at 96th Street but the promised second phase that would extend all the way up to 125th Street might never happen.  According to the New York Post, the MTA has been in negotiations with the city over a $2.5 billion budget deficit but when the funds were delivered, the money eventually went to a LIRR connection project planned for the Upper East Side.  Should the city be tougher with the MTA?  Read more on the details in the New York Post: LINK
