ARCHITECTURE: 99 MORNINGSIDE REVEALED

A Bespoke tip came in with a rendering of the new 11-story building planned for 99 Morningside by the corner of 123rd Street.  Some may remember that the church at this address sold off the site and the developers purchased a couple of the brownstones on the side street which have recently been demolished to make way for a massive tower that will take up two side of the block.  Check out the rather impressive final designs after the jump.
It looks like the new church space will be located on the avenue and the entrance to the residential units will be at the side street where the brownstones once stood.  This location is pretty ideal because it is just steps away from the express trains on 125th Street and is also located right at the corner of Morningside Park at the north end.  We are not sure of how many units will be available or if this is a condo development or not but this new construction will ultimately add a lot of foot traffic to the area once completed sometime by December 2017.

  1. I hate to see any pre-war townhouses lost.

    That said, this looks great.

  3. The new building looks comfortable, the hold out and the bay windows spectacular. Too bad 2 similar building were knocked down. Is there an initiative/organization actively working to preserve the historic architecture of Harlem?
