DRINK: BEST NEW HARLEM BAR 2015

A lot of major Harlem openings have happened in 2015 and HB will be reviewing the best of the best in the upcoming week or so. First off are the new arrivals in the nightlife nomination just in time for the weekend.  We definitely prefer a bar scene over a swanky lounge any day and Mess Hall on FDB by 118th Street really has the wow factor even though the space is on the narrow side.  With that said, the owners who are also behind Double Dutch Coffee, Lenox Coffee and The Chipped Cup have really put a lot of thought into the lodge-like atmosphere which includes reclaimed rafters for the exposed ceiling.

There is even an outdoor space in the back and pub grub such as Danish style hotdogs served at the long bar within to get hungry revelers through the night.   Crafted bourbon drinks along with mescal are also part of the offering for those who are not so into the overly sweet cocktails that are common in some uptown spots and the Happy Hour is one of the most generous ones to be found in Harlem:  LINK

  1. That outdoor space connected with the coffee shop is my jam. I love it there and usually go to their sister establishment Filtered up by City College, which might add could compare once it gets its 1, 2, punch of Oso Harlem that eventually will open next door. But yes, Mess Hall and the Coffee shop has all the jungle jangle.

Do we agree Harlem, I mean yass
