SHOP: FRESH BAKED AT HOT BREAD KITCHEN
We stopped by the Hot Bread Kitchen storefront on Park Avenue by East 115th Street to check out the baked goods that were available for the day. Harlem has a lot sweet bakeries but fresh bread is usually hard to find and HBK uses their industrial commercial kitchen at La Marqueta to make some of the finest offering in the city. The standard breads buns or rolls are all on hand but ethnic variations such as challah, bialy or naan are available on any given day.
HBK also helps train minority women in startup business that need commercial kitchen so everything is made for a good local cause along with being some of the best bread to ever crafted. Harlem restaurants like Chaiwali also uses HBK to stock up for meal services and many of the breads can be found throughout New York City establishments. Hours are form 9:00AM-4:00PM daily except on the one day they are closed which is Sunday and there is a Pay What You Can policy after 2:00PM as part of their community outreach program: LINK
