INTRODUCING: REAL TREES IN THE HEIGHTS
We kind of love it that the holiday tree merchants in the Heights are keeping it real as always. Walking by 156th on Broadway, a hand painted sign promoting real trees for real people put a smile on our face for the day with its strong message about authenticity. Just another block north, a mural with a painted cardinal alongside signage that spells out Audubon Trees gives a historic shout out to the famous painter and naturalist of whom the area is named after. The mix of culture and history is still very much alive uptown and it is quite nice to see folks in the neighborhood embrace it during the holiday season.

A bit of the goodness that Hamilton Heights has experienced in recent years has trickled up here now, with the arrival of the Audubon bird murals, the facade renovation of the Hispanic Society, and newer or renovated stores like Veg Out and Tropical Spanish. 2015 was a good year for the neighborhood.
