SEE: CHRIS DAZE ELLIS EXHIBIT AT MCNY

The City is My Muse exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street.  Chris “Daze” Ellis (b. 1962) entered the world of art via graffiti writing, painting on the city’s streets and subway system in the late 1970s. In the early ‘80s, Daze turned his attention from the street to the studio, creating works on canvas that merged elements of street style with figurative painting. The City is My Muse presents recent works by this lifelong New Yorker that depict the vibrancy and vitality of the city he loves, combining abstract and representational forms to capture the energy of Times Square, the popular amusements of Coney Island, and the everyday people and places that inspire him.  On view until June 19th: LINK
