Mama K's soups and salads opened about 4 years ago by 148th Street on St. Nicholas Avenue but now the small storefront has shuttered. The healthy eating concept has not been doing well uptown since Island Salad also closed both branches further south so maybe something more trendy should arrive at this corner of Sugar Hill. This tight commercial space already has a kitchen set up in the back but the main dining area only seats a handful of people out front. With that said, a better end type of takeout spot could do well if things are done right.
