The food market under the overpass at Park Avenue and 116th Street has returned for spring and will be open every Sunday during the warm weather season from Noon to 6:00PM. As many know, this was El Barrio's famous La Marqueta which had been abandoned in the past decades but was formerly the bustling outdoor food shopping center for East Harlem. Vendy Plaza was a big hit earlier on in the season last year when it launched with a wide range of local food merchants along with beer and wine stands. We have not dropped by yet but will have a full report after this coming weekend's event.
