ARCHITECTURE: 173 MORINGSIDE AVENUE RISES

A row of tenement buildings on Morningside Avenue by 127th Street has been missing one structure for quite some time now but a new construction is finally rising on the vacant lot.  Based on records found online, the address was demolished a decade ago but nothing has happened on the site until now.

DOB permits show that a 4-story building will be finishing up soon which is a bit odd since the zoning probably permits the same level as the surrounding neighbors.  Right now 3 stories are in place so this new arrival will definitely be on the shorter side.  The only other bit of information in place is that there will be 8 apartments all together but it is unclear if these will be rentals or condos.
