BESPOKE: HAMILTON IN VOGUE

The musical Hamilton has made the founder father quite a pop icon these days and now uptown is starting to take notice also.  In the past, small businesses shunned having names that specifically alluded to Harlem and now many newcomers are getting quite creative with acknowledging the neighborhood. We noticed that even a small eatery in Morningside Heights is now using Hamilton as a title and a bakery on Broadway just north of 146th Street is also called Hamilton's.

Since the heights was named after Hamilton's estate which still stands today on the north end of St. Nicholas Park, it only makes sense that folks in the neighborhood start celebrating the history.  Harlem Tavern, Harlem Shake, Harlem Pizza Co, Harlem Cycle, or Harlem Burger Co. are some other examples of Harlem proud establishments but now using alternative names indicative of the neighborhood is also a trend.
