BESPOKE: TURTLES AND LILIES AT MORNINGSIDE PARK

When we walked by the turtle pond within Morningside Park yesterday, there seemed to be a half dozen or so bicycle inner tubes floating about which merited a closer inspection.  Can we really have nice things without someone coming along and ruining stuff?
As it turns out, the intentional floating devices are actually protective aquatic barriers for the newly planted lily pads in the pond which hopefully will spread out during the summer months.  The small plants look pretty vulnerable right now but might eventually provide another element to the layers of flora fauna in the park just north of 110th Street.
