READ: HARLEM RACCOONS IN THE NEWS
We were going through some of our old photos from the past couple of years and found this raccoon image that we took by a church yard one afternoon which also reminded us of a recent article in DNAinfo on uptown's diverse local wildlife. Apparently some of the critters have been sneaking into brownstone pantries or backyards with the intention of stealing anything they can eat and causing a bit of a commotion as of late. Sadly enough a pet turtle in a pond was one of the casualties in the local crime spree along with the fish at one townhouse garden. These sophisticated city dwellers also have figured out the whole squatting thing and prefer shacking up within an abandoned SRO brownstone as oppose to the park trees which might now be a little too provincial for the Harlem denizens.
