LISTEN: CHRISTIAN SCOTT ATUNDE ADJUAH


Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah’s Stretch Music residency at Harlem Stage in February with engagements on the 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th.  With support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Harlem Stage is excited to announce its partnership with Edison Award-winning and Grammy-nominated trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah to re-establish jazz as a social music through the Stretch Music Residency. Stretch Music is a genre-blind musical form that stretches jazz’s rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass many other musical forms, cultures, processes and conventions as possible.

The Stretch Music Residency will be comprised of Stretch Music Conceptual Concerts, Festivals and Intensives, Drum Circles, Humanities Programming, Online and Social Media Engagement as a means of building demand around jazz for millennials and creatives ages 18-34 but is open to audiences of all ages.
