Courtesy of Wall Writers: Graffiti in its Innocence
Wednesday, March 22nd, 6:30PM, Tabula Rasa at the Museum of the City of New York, Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street. The forgotten origins of the modern graffiti and street art movements in late 1960s and early ‘70s New York and Philadelphia are the focus of Wall Writers: Graffiti in its Innocence (Roger Gastman, 2016, 77 min). This feature-length documentary explores not only early graffiti writing but also the young writers who created it and the larger cultural forces that drove them to write. After the film, director Roger Gastman will join MIKE-171, Wicked Gary, and COCO 144, three legendary graffiti writers featured in the film, for a talkback on stage.
