ARCHITECTURE: THE SALVATION ARMY ON 125TH
Construction has started up at the old Salvation Army site over on East 125th Street at the corner of 3rd Avenue. Last summer the original low-level building was demolished and permits went up for a 13-story tower but an actual rendering has not been revealed until now. It will all end up looking kind of like an old hospital building but at least there will be 233 more housing units available in the area when all finishes up. Read more about this new construction in our past post: LINK

Just another forgettable building, too bad since it's on 125th
ReplyDeleteAlso, no ground floor retail, too bad
It's not a bad building. The brick coloring reminds me of the YMCA as does the overall massing. The location can't really support retail. That whole approach to the bridges is such a mess of traffic. It will be nice to have a signature building there as a gateway. It's just too bad it had to the homophobes and Christianists and salvation army.
ReplyDeleteOne block away from Lexington on a very busy street, lots of foot traffic
