DEMOLITION: THE WEST END THEATRE ON 125TH

Harlem Bespoke: We walked by the West End Theatre on 125th Street by Hancock Place yesterday and noticed major scaffolding up on the facade. This building has been around since 1902 and had been used as a movie theater up until the 70s until a church eventually purchased the building. So what is actually going on now?

After checking out the DOB permits online for 362 West 125th Street, it now has been revealed that the entire building will be demolished for a high-rise building.  There will eventually be 12 stories total with 70 units on the upper floor.  Houses of worship have been cashing in on the building boom as of late and this news is somewhat not so surprising.  Check out the original photo of the West End Theatre in our past post: LINK

  1. When Churches sell their building do the members who have Tithed for years get a percentage of the sale profits.
The WestEnd use be a movie theatre that had a great Sat fare for only 10 cents.

  2. The theater has been sold and is being developed commercially and residentially.
