READ: NATIONAL BLACK THEATRE DEVELOPMENT

Harlem Bespoke:  The National Black Theatre building has made some major news this month when it was announced that the owners secured a deal with an uptown developer.  Everything will be contingent on zoning approval but if all works out, there will be a 20-story tower built at the location on the corner of 125th Street and Fifth Avenue.  This will translate into 240 apartments and a new 30,000-square-foot theater space for the cultural organization that has been around since 1968.  With this much residential density involved, there will have to be at least a 20 percent affordable housing component to the new construction so 48 such units might arrive in the neighborhood in the next few years.  More details on the story can be found in The Real Deal: LINK
