Harlem Bespoke: We received a tip that the latest Barney's men's catalogue features a very historic uptown location with a lot of expensive apparel from the likes of Calvin Klein and Yves Saint Laurent. Cobblestone streets and identical wood frame townhouses make for a dramatic backdrop for a couple of male models accompanied by some fancy felines in the latest retail editorial.
Those familiar with Sugar Hill will recognize the location as Sylvan Terrace located just east of Broadway by 161st Street. This landmark block makes for a perfect photo shoot and the majestic Morris-Jumel Mansion at the end of the street also provided a backdrop for another image. Harlem and the Heights have been popular locations for fashion photographers over the years since the historic blocks are a compelling alternative to the more familiar streets further downtown.
