REMEMBER: THE ORIGINAL RED ROOSTER 2017

Harlem Bespoke:  The original Red Rooster storefront on 7th Avenue by 138th Street had been vacant for many years and now looks to be occupied for private use.  We walked by the location of the lounge that was the inspiration for the Red Rooster on Lenox Avenue and noticed that the windows had been renovated and curtains now conceal the interior.  Most of the big clubs had white proprietors back in the Renaissance years but the smaller speakeasy's were most often black owned so this makes the address pretty notable.  Even though 7th Avenue is no longer the entertainment boulevard of Harlem, some clues to the past still remain if one looks closely enough: LINK
