RENOVATIONS: THE SPIRIT OF HARLEM ON FDB

Harlem Bespoke:  The jazz mosaic mural on FDB at the corner of 125th Street had been removed when the building underwent a full facade renovation in the past year which caused quite a stir. The Spirit of Harlem was a visual landmark that gave a nod to uptown historic heritage and the blatant removal of the work  seemed a bit intensive to many.  A new sign now has been posted on the plywood out front which mentions that the work will actually be returning soon.
It is unclear if this was planned originally or not and the controversy could have been a factor otherwise.  Either way, having this colorful piece of public art back in place within Harlem's major commercial corridor will definitely be a welcome sight in the new year.
