INTRODUCING: UPTOWN GARRISON IN THE HEIGHTS

Harlem Bespoke:  We were up in Washington Heights this weekend and noticed that Uptown Garrison has quietly opened at the corner of 181st Street and Pinehurst Avenue.  Crackled subway tiles, industrial lighting and marble mosaic floors provide a downtown vibe to the newcomer which already has quite a few locals coming in day and night.

In the morning hours, everything is set up like a coffee shop and folks can order artisan sandwiches, coffee, tea, pastries from Sullivan Street Bakery, soups or salads.  Our French onion soup was definitely made fresh for the day and had the right amount of chopped chives to add addition brightness to the dish.  Breakfast sandwiches were also toasted nicely on a brioche bun and hit the spot for a casual afternoon bite.  Even though there are a lot of laptops during the day at the 60-seater, this java joint actually turns into a small-plate restaurant at night and the interior merits a romantic evening out.  We noticed a lot of comfort food classics and will definitely be back for another story.
