ILLUSTRATING BLACKNESS: Bearden, Glaser, Lawrence & Warhol, at La Maison D'Art Gallery, 259 West 132nd Street, from May 1st through May 30th, 2018
The Harlem historian and collector John T. Reddick, draws from his collection the works of four prominent 20th century artists, Romare Bearden, Milton Glaser, Jacob Lawrence and Andy Warhol, and reflects on how they each "ILLUSTRATED BLACKNESS."
Exhibiting posters, album covers, book-jackets and magazine covers the show illuminates on how these four unique artists captured African American spirit, history and celebrities for presentation and consumption by a broader public audience.
