EAT: THAI TAKE OUT AT CHARM THAI

Harlem Bespoke:  Thai options are have been arriving in Harlem in the past year or so and we stopped by Charm Thai Express on Amsterdam just north of 125th Street yesterday for lunch to check out the offerings.  The new eatery is basically a take-out spot but those comfortable with narrow, window bar accommodations can grab a couple of seats to try out the food after everything gets cooked up in the kitchen.  With that said, entrees are served up in delivery containers but the food is actually quite good.

As can be seen in the above photos, the lunch special seared salmon with green curry sauce looks spot-on and was prepared to perfection at $13.95 per order.  A crispy spring roll with carrot sauce was also included in the mix which was the usual Chinese-style cabbage filling but was solid.  Another seafood option was the Pla Rard Prik which is a spicy fried fish dish with sweet and sour sauce that is often served whole with fish head and all.  Our take-out version for $10.95 had the fish filleted already and expertly fried in generous portions.  Charm Thai is a good option for a fast bite but those who want more formal seating should check out PaPa Thai on Frederick Douglass Boulevard: LINK

  1. Happy for this convenient, close, relatively inexpensive and pretty delicious addition to Harlem/West Harlem.
