CONSTRUCTION: NEW DESIGNS FOR MONTEFIORE PARK
Harlem Bespoke: Anyone who has taken the 1 train to the 137th Street stop will be familiar with the perplexing Montefiore Park which is now finally finishing up on a major re-design. This triangular patch of green space stretching from 136th to 138th Street consists of gated pathways which only encourages pedestrians to walk quickly through the park. Everything is about to change in the near future after a major overhaul.
As can be seen by the above design rendering, those constrictive gated pathways will all be removed eventually. There will be an open feel to the park with more trees and a stepped terrace design on the northern end for the public to actually enjoy the park. Signage out front mentions that the end of November will be the finish date but we expect a delay based on the current status of construction.
