ARCHITECTURE: THE VIDRO ON 121ST STREET

Harlem Bespoke:  The foundation work for 313 West 121st Street started up about two years ago and now the new construction called The Vidro is close to finishing up.  Architect Andre Soluri took us on a tour this week of the interior which is still in the works but will have modern layouts such as bathrooms with soaking tubs alongside a full shower and elevators that open right into each apartment.  Vidro actually means glass in Portuguese which is apropos for the faceted six-unit apartment building located just west of FDB and a short walk aways from the express trains at 125th Street.

The above photos show the still raw space of building but one can get a sense of the unique angles that the windows have within each apartment.  Views of the rooftop include Morningside Park, West Harlem, Central Harlem, East Harlem and the skyline further south in midtown Manhattan.  Pricing for the condominiums will apparently start in the mid-range which should be attractive for the entry-level buyer when everything finishes up early next year.  A website has not been set up yet but sales will probably start sooner than later for The Vidro in the coming months and we will be back once the final furnishings have been installed.  For more on the design details, check out the architect's official website: LINK
