ARCHITECTURE: TALLEST BUILDING ON 125TH STREET

Harlem Bespoke: The Victoria theater adaptive reuse development on 125th Street by 7th Avenue has reached new heights in January and now tops off at 21 floors which makes it the tallest building in Central Harlem.  A previous record set by the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building on the next block east was set at 19 stories all together and The Victoria is not finished yet.  There will be 26 levels when the new construction has finished and the front end of the building will be a hotel with 210 hotel rooms. The back tower will consist of 229 rental apartments and portion of those have been set aside as affordable units.

Restoration of the actual lower level theater will probably start up in the coming months and the Apollo Theater has now committed to renting out the community space that will be set up within.  Construction started up back at the end of 2016 and the $143 building should be finishing up by the end of this year.  Check out the original rendering of The Victoria in our past post: LINK
