ARCHITECURE: DECORATIVE FACADE PANEL ON 125TH
Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that a truck on 125th Street by Old Broadway had a new facade panel loaded up in the back and thought that the design detail looked familiar. This decorative element has sort of an Art Deco look to it and not many new construction uptown fit this description.
The mystery was quite easy to solve since we had taken a photo of West Harlem's tallest tower a couple of weeks ago and noticed the facade detailing had a bit of vintage nod to it. This is the new residential construction over on 122nd Street by Broadway which can be seen to the west even from Central Harlem below 125th Street. West Harlem's official border on the south end starts here but some will probably debate that the area is still the Upper West Side. More on this development can be found in our past post: LINK
