Harlem Bespoke: We noticed that some major construction was happening over at 1713 Madison Avenue by East 112th Street which is located in the middle of a public housing mega-block. There had been a single-level building that looked like a community center located on the land before and some may wonder if the end use of the new construction will be for residential purposes.
It turns out that a very futuristic looking school building will be finishing up on the spot in East Harlem by 2020. This new structure has some great design details and the 4 stories will actually help break up the monotony of the surrounding mid century residential towers. A lot of the east side had been demolished for public housing and has no interesting architectural elements so having something more modern (in a good way) makes sense for the neighborhood.
