ARCHITECTURE: KARIM RASHID ON PLEASANT AVENUE

Harlem Bespoke:  Modern industrial designer Karim Rashid worked on some architecture in El Barrio a couple of years ago and we finally got a look at the residential new construction nestled amongst one of the main brownstone neighborhoods left intact on the east side.  Number 329 Pleasant Avenue by 117th Street took over an empty lot that was formerly used for parking and looks like a creation that was meant more for South Beach than this uptown historic hub.  We actually like the design but somehow it just appears out of context in this particular situation.  With that said, studios apparently rent out for over $2,150 a month and all leases have been signed.
