Harlem Bespoke: The nondescript storefront at the corner of 138th Street and 7th Avenue by Strivers Row was the location of the original Red Rooster speakeasy back in the day when such establishments were common in Central Harlem. Construction to fix the empty commercial space started up back in 2012 but now it appears everything is being used as a private space. Most folks nowadays would probably just walk past the historic spot without taking notice but this address is really one of the last few intact historic spaces that remain from the decades right after the Renaissance. Before the Red Rooster, a famous composer who once lived on Strivers Row used to set up shop at this particular corner: LINK
