CONSTRUCTION: 1440 AMSTERDAM AVENUE

Harlem Bespoke: A fire burned down a single-story commercial building that housed a supermarket back in 2013 on Amsterdam and 131st Street but some may be wondering what is going on with the site these days.  There had been plans posted for a new building to rise at the address by 2016 but still nothing has come about.
We walked by the location in Manhattanville located in front of some major housing projects and saw that a new rendering had been posted with a complete date of Spring 2020 listed.  A quick look through the plywood window reveals a lot of overgrown grass so things look pretty stalled at this point in time.  A commercial space to replace the supermarket would have been part of the plans for the ground floor but now local residents will have to walk further west to Fairway for groceries.  Check out the original building plan in our previous post: LINK
