Wednesday, October 30th, 6:00PM-8:00PM, Mama Africa: An Afro-Venezuelan Film at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, 120 East 125th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenue. Mama Africa, directed by Afro-Venezuelan filmmaker Benito “Ifayemisi” Marquez, was filmed between the Republic of Nigeria and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Mama Africa is a stunning documentary that addresses the religious, cultural, and social expressions of the Yoruba communities and Afro-descendant peoples of southern Lake Maracaibo/Bobures (Venezuela).
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the Director and a musical and dance presentation by drummers, Marcos Espinoza and Miguel Ángel Monges.
