CLOSED: BIERSTRASSE HAS SHUTTERED?
Harlem Bespoke: Someone mentioned to us that Bierstrasse at the corner of West 133rd on 12th Avenue appears to have closed at the latter half of October so we took a walk over to the Manhattanville location this afternoon. The classic European style beer garden opened back in May of 2016 and provided a really beautiful outdoor space in the historic industrial part of West Harlem but keeping a business this size going must have been quite an endeavor.
Photos taken today show a very inactive site which is usually open for lunch service and Yelp has indicated that doors have shuttered. Social media for Bierstrasse has not officially mentioned anything and no signs have been posted out front so there might be a bit of hope that things will re-open again. This one of Harlem's most unique spaces and the aesthetic is right on point so it would be a shame to not see the physical space used for some sort of restaurant business.
