ARCHITECTURE: CROSS FACADE DETAIL AT 10 LENOX

Harlem Bespoke: Most of the church-to-condo transaction in the past decade have been pretty discrete when it comes to the final house of worship location in the new construction but one development has eschewed the trend.  Usually an older building ends up being demolished for a highish-rise and the lower floor quietly becomes the new church space but 10 Lenox just a block north of Central Park is a bit embellished than usually.  When we walked by the other day, we noticed that the cross out front at the newly finished facade is almost two stories high and in a contrasting gold color.  Everything does look modern and sleek but the religious demarcation of the building is definitely quite evident in the final designs of the new condominium.
