EAT: HARLEM RESTAURANT WEEK AT LIDO ON FDB

Harlem Bespoke: This year's  Harlem Restaurant Week for the first two weeks of March started off this past weekend and we were able to stop by Lido at the corner of 117th Street on FDB.  The local favorite that debuted on the boulevard back in 2011 has become the solid standby for Italian offerings in Central Harlem and features a two course prix fixe for $25 at lunchtime or $35 at dinner service.  We actually do love lunchtime in Harlem or anywhere in the city since walking in and getting a table is quite easy to do.

One of the best offerings on both menus is the delicious plump mussels in red sauce over a rich stew of fava beans with some of the best thick cut rustic bread to be found uptown.  For classic comfort food, nothing beats the spaghetti with tender roasted veal meatballs for the daytime but those look for something for adventuresome should try out the black sepia seafood pasta dish during evening hours.  Warm plum bread pudding balanced off with a cool scoop of vanilla gelato nicely finished our meal for the day but there are other desserts to choose from which piqued our interest.

Although not on the prix fixe menu, the cocktails at Lido should not be missed out on like the pink grapefruit Margherita with house infused cilantro tequila which added a nice bit of color to the overall experience.
