BESPOKE DIARIES: ON 125TH STREET APRIL 2020

Harlem Bespoke:  Going out for some exercise later in the day seemed like a good idea but more people apparently have the same inclinations during the hours before twilight.  Things are definitely 90 percent quieter than usual but every block during the walk still has about a half dozen people who generally do not move out of the way to social distance.  We sometimes just end up walking on the street to be on safe side.  More folks have been wearing mask as of late but about half of the people we saw out on our walk did not get the memo or decided it was not that important.

Storefronts were pretty much all closed but one could tell if a grocery store or drugstore was nearby by the lines that have formed out front to get in. One side of the Apollo digital marquee sign had glitch to it but the hopeful message was clear on the other end.  Going further east things got a little more challenging with social distancing since there was actually some groups of people congregating around the subway station.  At that point we decided to head back home and made a mental note not to go out later than early afternoon the next time around.
