BESPOKE DIARIES: RIDING THE FREE BUS
Harlem Bespoke: As many know by now, the MTA is has no bus fees now and all riders who want to take public transportation should enter at the back door to avoid being in close proximity with the driver. We had one essential pet product that was not available locally so had to take a bus one afternoon and witnessed what it was like during these times. Subways are still the most heavily used form of public transportation but the bus is pretty much more in order than the usual train ride so this is our preferred emergency form of transportation during the pandemic.
Bus schedules appear to be pretty regular from our experience and we waited at the back door to see if it would open as the bus approached. Everything worked out and we boarded a mostly empty vehicle. Our requisite face mask was in use and most of the few passengers that were on board had the protective gear on. A chain at the front of the bus prevents any interaction with the driver and provides a safe social distancing for everyone.
Everything else was uneventful but we made sure not to touch our faces during the ride and also used hand sanitizer often. We tend to apply once after entering a space and then again when leaving and out on the streets. More details on the free MTA bus service can be found in our past post: LINK
