Harlem Bespoke: Four City Council members has now requested that Governor Cuomo shut down all public transportation such as subways and buses to prevent the further spread of coronavirus in the city. Is this a good idea since a lot of essential workers need to get to work during the crises? One suggestion is that the city pay for car service and ride shares in the interim but this could only work for professionals such as doctors and nurses. Undocumented workers might be wary of this and so this might not be the best solution either. With that said, if subways do stay open then the face covering regulation and social distancing orders should be enforced more strictly along with more regular sanitizing of all MTA property.
