ARCHITECTURE: A FORGOTTEN THEATER IN HARLEM
Harlem Bespoke: One of the century-old theaters hidden in plain site can be found in Manhattanville on Broadway by 135th Street right across from the point. where the elevated train goes back underground. The Claremont Theatre is local landmark that was used more recently as a storage facility but now has a pediatric practice on the ground floor along with an art gallery. A film from 1915 in our past post reveals a busy theater in one of the first footages from Thomas Edison and the last 20 seconds shows the the exterior along with street traffic which includes a horse carriage passing by on the main boulevard: LINK
