CONSTRUCTION: PASSIVE HOUSING ON 126TH STREET
Harlem Bespoke: Groundbreaking started in March at 265 West 126th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue which apparently was an empty lot for several decades and everything is now moving along smoothly. The more complicated foundation work already finished up and the first floor has now already risen as construction picks up. There will be 37 mixed-income affordable rental units at this new 7-story affordable housing building called the Balton Commons which will include studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units when completed by Winter 2021 if all goes to plan. As previously mentioned, this development has also been designed as passive housing which is a more eco-conscious way of developing homes that are energy efficient.
