REMEMBER: LENOX AVENUE CIRCA 1938

Harlem Bespoke:  The above photo of Lenox Avenue was taken back in 1938 and surprisingly the brownstones in the photos still stand today.  Number 422-432 Lenox Avenue is located between 131st and 132nd Street on the east side of the boulevard but in recent decade has had the facade details stripped off and replaced with plain brickwork.  Most of the stoops are also now gone and it appears another round of renovations is currently happening.  We walked by the block over the weekend and saw that dumpsters were out front and sidewalks sheds have now currently been installed.  DOB permits show that the separate brownstones are being combined into larger apartment building layout but apparently the facades will remain intact.
