REMEMBER: THE ORIGINAL COTTON CLUB LOCATION

Harlem Bespoke:  The original Cotton Club location has very few photos except for the closeup showing the entrance so the block itself can be hard to identify in Harlem.  This is especially true since the address by 142nd and Lenox had been demolished by the 1950s for residential housing but we did find photos from a decade before that give a sense of how everything looked.

This location was vacated for another one in midtown but the awning (highlighted in yellow) in the 1940s government tax photos can still be visible next to the larger ballroom marquee.  The last photo has a mid block view of the entrance where everything is more visible.  We can not quite make out the name of what arrived later but can be pretty sure that the interior setup remained the same.  More on the original Cotton Club can be found in our past post: LINK
